BU SBRP researcher Jennifer Schlezinger (Project 4) recently published a paper titled "An L-Tyrosine Derivative and PPAR Gamma Agonist, GW7845, Activates a Multifaceted Caspase Cascade in Bone Marrow B Cells" in the journal Toxicological Sciences. In this experiment Schlezinger et al. examined the molecular mechanisms of cell death for the drug GW7845 to investigate how PPAR gamma agonists may contribute to tumor killing as well as normal bone marrow B lymphocyte toxicity.

Forum: Measuring Chemicals in People

E-mail Print PDF
On Wednesday May 30, 2007, BU SBRP researcher Tom Webster (Project 2) and doctoral student Jessica Nelson will be leading a forum titled "Measuring Chemicals in People: Promises and Pitfalls."  The forum will discuss biomonitoring (the practice of measuring chemicals in people's bodies).  As the technology has improved, biomonitoring is increasingly being used by health agencies and advocacy organizations, with California just establishing the first statewide surveillance program. This meeting will provide an overview of biomonitoring -- what it is and how it's being used -- as well as address some of the significant ethical and policy questions raised by this issue.

This forum is sponsored by the Massachusetts Public Health Association's Environmental and Occupational Health Section and the BU SBRP. The forum will be from 6-8pm and be held at the MPHA offices at 434 Jamaicaway, Boston.
