This section of the web site provides resources to help communities address the day-to-day impacts of environmental contamination. It is intended for community members, government agencies, researchers, or others involved in these issues, and reflects the work of the BU SRP’s Outreach Core. Here you'll find links to relevant articles, factsheets, and presentations produced by SRP researchers and partner organizations, a history of outreach activities, and an online resource for communities interested in health studies.
The outreach program works closely with its community partners: Greater Boston Physicians for Social Responsibility; The Center for Health, Environment & Justice; Alternatives for Community & Environment; and Toxics Action Center.Learn more about our activities and community partners on the links page.
Dr. Wendy Heiger-Bernays of the Research Translation Core was recently quoted in an article on SouthCoastToday.com about envrionmental hazards in New Bedford. In 2008, Dr. Heiger-Bernays analyzed a risk analysis of arsenic soil concentrations and addressed the New Bedford School Committee, explaining the potential health effects associated with exposure to arsenic at levels found in the soil of a New Bedford sports field.
